FDCP Collaborates With Instituto Cervantes to Honor Women’s Month With Espacio Femenino

The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) recognizes the contribution of women in the film industry this International Women’s day in a mini women film festival: “Espacio Femenino: Spanish and Filipino Filmmakers” in collaboration with Instituto Cervantes, Embassy of Spain, and Intramuros Administration.

Spanish and Filipino women filmmakers will dominate the month of March in a mini women’s film festival which will run every Saturdays of the month at 4 PM at Instituto Cervantes Intramuros located at Plaza San Luis Complex, Intramuros.

Los amores cobardes (2018) by Carmen Blanco will spearhead the opening of Espacio Femenino on March 9. The story is about Eva, a strong and independent woman who returns to her hometown one summer holiday only to cross paths with Ruben, her ex-boyfriend who broke off with her years ago for no definite reason.

March 16 will feature the Galician film A palabra xusta (2016). The film centers on a 92-year-old teacher who revisits a house preserved through time. She starts to connect with her memories, reflections of a life trapped in old photographs, and the memory of the love of her life.

Several short films like Cafe para ilevar (2014), Una vez (2015), Camino de agua para un pez (2016), Einstein-Rosen (2016), Lucresia (2016), Conservas (2017), and y el corto Filipino Gikan sa Ngitngit nga Kinailadman (2017) will be screened on March 23.

Espacio Femenino will conclude on March 30 with Con el viento (2018) directed by Meritxell Colell. The film revolves around a Buenos Aires-based choreographer who helps her mother sell their house after her father’s passing. The two were like strangers, but they will learn more about each other and live together.
