Safety and Health Officers Training Seminar (SHOTS) for Audiovisual Companies to be held online from April 12 to 16
MANILA, PHILIPPINES, APRIL 6, 2021 — A Basic Occupational Safety and Health (BOSH) Training specific to the audiovisual industry will be held this month by the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) through its Safe Filming program in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) - Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC).
The Safety and Health Officers Training Seminar (SHOTS) is a free online 40-hour BOSH Training for audiovisual companies that will be held from April 12 to 16 via Zoom with a 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily schedule.
Workshops on Hazard Identification and Control Measures of Health Hazards will be conducted covering topics on the Roles of Safety Officers in Audiovisual Activities, Health Hazards (Physical, Chemical, Biological, and Ergonomic), and Safety Hazards in the Workplace/Location (Hazards from Poor Housekeeping, Fire Hazards, Electrical Hazards, Machine Hazards, and Hazards from Materials Handling and Storage).
Other topics to be tackled during the SHOTS are Risk Assessment, Workplace Emergency Preparedness, Accident Investigation, Employees Compensation, and COVID-19 and the Workplace.
Participants will receive a Safety Officer II (SO2) Certification from the DOLE-OSHC upon completion of the SHOTS, which is organized by the FDCP and DOLE-OSHC in line with DOLE Department Order No. 198 that aims to strengthen the compliance with Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Standards and better acquaint the audiovisual industry about the importance of OSH for the conduct of audiovisual activities.
Audiovisual companies such as film studios, production/post-production companies, animation studios, camera rentals, events companies, television companies, advertising companies, and the like are welcome to participate in the SHOTS.
Eligible applicants have to be registered with the FDCP’s National Registry for Companies. Companies that are not yet registrants simply have to sign up on the National Registry website. Participants to the SHOTS will be designated by their respective companies as Safety Officers.
Interested participants must have a desktop or laptop that will be used as a primary device, have access to an alternative device preferably also a desktop/laptop, use a built-in or external webcam and microphone for the whole duration of the training, and have a download and upload speed of at least 3 Mbps.
