A total of 14 sections, including a Lav Diaz special screening and a free short films showcase, comprise this year’s PPP online edition

The PPP4 is an FDCP-led omnibus project featuring titles from local film festivals like the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival, QCinema International Film Festival, Cinema One Originals Film Festival, Sinag Maynila Film Festival, CineFilipino Film Festival, ToFarm Film Festival, and Metro Manila Film Festival as well as from various producers and regional film festivals, a PPP Retrospective, the Lab portion of the Sine Kabataan Short Film Competition, and the CineMarya Women’s Film Festival.

MANILA, PHILIPPINES, SEPTEMBER 28, 2020 — In order to help the Filipino film industry thrive locally and internationally amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) launched the CreatePHFilms Philippine Cinema funding program to provide funds for Filipino filmmakers in the development, production, and distribution of their films.

“FDCP Channel 100” aims to serve as an easy-to-use streaming platform through a thematic curation of films and audiovisual content according to various educational topics. For a monthly subscription of only PHP 99, students, film enthusiasts, and filmmakers will be able to access hard-to-find local films on the FDCP Channel.

MANILA, PHILIPPINES, SEPTEMBER 24 — In a surprise announcement made on Monday, September 21, the animated feature film “Hayop Ka! The Nimfa Dimaano Story” is set to be the first animated Filipino Netflix film. Directed by Filipino filmmaker Avid Liongoren, the animated romantic comedy “Hayop Ka!” will be available for streaming across Asia beginning October 29.

MANILA, PHILIPPINES, SEPTEMBER 24, 2020 — During the first public session that kicked-off FDCP’s 2020 edition of the Film Industry Conference, speaker Aleksandra Swierk opened her talk by discussing film labs as essentially being a platform for “exchange.” Swierk emphasized the way that such labs fundamentally serve as a medium for exchanging ideas, opinions, stories, and talent. The thought was a fitting way to start FIC Online 2020: a four-day online conference that brought a diverse group of film industry experts into a single platform in which they shared their ideas, opinions, and expertise about valuable topics relevant to the film industry.
